It is the beginning of an idea I have been thinking about for a long time:
AI should be accessible to everyone — not only to people who can afford expensive subscriptions or have access to high-speed, continuous internet.
Why did I build Mrigashira AI?
AI has evolved incredibly fast. We now have powerful models capable of writing, reasoning, coding, analyzing documents, generating content, and helping with everyday tasks.
But there is a problem.
A large part of the AI ecosystem depends on:
Paid subscriptions
Continuous internet connectivity
Cloud-based AI providers
Sending data to third-party servers
High-end hardware and infrastructure
For many people, these requirements are not practical.
Someone living in a rural or remote area may not have reliable internet connectivity.
A student may not be able to afford another monthly subscription.
A developer or organization may not want sensitive documents leaving their computer.
And for many people, AI is still something that feels distant or expensive.
I wanted to build something different.
The vision behind Mrigashira AI
Mrigashira AI is built with a simple vision:
Make AI Accessible for All.
The goal is to make AI more approachable for people who cannot afford expensive subscriptions, people living in areas with limited connectivity, and users who want more control over how and where their data is used. It is also an attempt to reduce dependence on centralized global AI providers by giving users the ability to connect with and run AI models locally.
Local AI — when your computer becomes the AI platform
One of the core ideas behind Mrigashira AI is local AI.
Instead of requiring every interaction to go through a remote cloud service, users can connect to locally hosted models using built in llama.cpp server
This provides several advantages:
Privacy: Your conversations and documents can remain on your computer when using local LLM models.
Offline capability: Once the required model is available locally, you don’t need continuous internet connectivity for inference.
No mandatory subscription: Local models don’t require a monthly AI subscription. You can use it for Unlimited usage.
More control: Users can choose which model they want to use and how they want to configure it.
Of course, local AI has hardware limitations. A modest computer won’t run every large model efficiently.
That is why Mrigashira AI is designed to work with different model configurations and providers rather than forcing users into a single ecosystem.
Local and Cloud AI together
I don’t believe the future of AI has to be purely local or purely cloud-based.
There is value in both.
Mrigashira AI therefore supports a flexible approach.
Users can connect local models for privacy and offline usage while also integrating supported cloud AI providers when they need more powerful models or capabilities.
The idea is simple:
Give users the choice.
Your computer should not become useless just because you don’t have an internet connection. And you shouldn’t have to use a cloud provider for every AI task if a local model is sufficient.
Built for ordinary computers
Another important goal was accessibility from a hardware perspective.
AI shouldn’t require everyone to purchase an expensive GPU just to experiment with it.
Mrigashira AI is designed with practical hardware in mind, including computers with limited RAM and CPU-only environments.Of course, larger models will always require more powerful hardware.
But the important thing is to provide users with options.A person should be able to start small and explore AI using whatever hardware they already have.
More than just a chat interface
Mrigashira AI is designed as an AI interface and productivity platform, rather than simply another chatbot.
It provides capabilities such as:
Local AI model integration/ Cloud AI provider integration.
Web search.
Voice input in form of push to talk.
Text-to-speech - In English, Hindi, Marathi based on MultiLingual Model Selection.
Prompt library and prompt creation.
Generation of PDF, DOCX, PPTX, XLSX,CSV, ODT, ODS and ODP file documents via Office Suit Plugin.
Exporting conversations and generated content in html,pdf,docx and audio format.
Generating Pie chart, Bar chart, Line chart, Sequence Diagram using mermaid plugin
Configurable LLM/AI parameters.
Flexible model configuration.
The objective is to bring different AI capabilities into one desktop application while keeping the user in control.
Why name “Mrigashira”?
Mrigashira is associated with a deer.
The deer represents curiosity, exploration and the search for something new.
is Nakshatra/constellation of Research.
That felt appropriate for an AI project.
AI is still a rapidly evolving field, and I wanted the name to represent the idea of exploring this new technology without unnecessary barriers.
From an idea to the Microsoft Store
Building the application was only one part of the journey.
There were many challenges along the way — development, testing, packaging, application signing, security considerations, distribution, and finally the Microsoft certification process.
And now, after all of that:
Mrigashira AI is officially available worldwide through the Microsoft Store. 🌍
That moment is particularly meaningful because the project started with a very simple question:
Can we make useful AI available to people without making cost, connectivity, or dependence on a single provider a barrier?
Mrigashira AI is my attempt at answering that question.
What comes next?
This is not the end.
It is the beginning.
There is still a lot to improve — better models, better performance on low-end hardware, more languages, better accessibility, more offline capabilities, and a better overall user experience.
I also want to explore how local AI can be useful in places where internet connectivity is limited, including rural communities, educational environments, and other low-connectivity scenarios.
There is enormous potential in bringing AI closer to the user instead of assuming that everything must happen in the cloud.
AI should belong to everyone
The AI revolution shouldn’t be limited to people with premium subscriptions, powerful computers, or constant high-speed internet.
It should reach Students,Developers,Teachers,Small businesses,Researchers.
People in remote, rural area.
And anyone who simply wants to explore what AI can do.
That’s the vision behind Mrigashira AI.
